《山林花川：大埔口述歷史》

呢本出版敍述形式就係以一個人（被訪者）嘅人生經歷同體會去描繪地方歷史，結合大歷史嘅脈絡，表現到人同地方發展何以緊密扣連。

本書雖然落名「歷史」，但入面各主人翁亦同時印證、塑造着同一個地方但唔同時代嘅面貌。呢種「歷史」角度唔係單純嘅古老感、「過去式」嘅、消失嘅、想緬懷嘅，而係睇到時代同發展轉變而出嘅結果，睇到一段段嘅轉化過程；又從主人翁點樣去理解、發揮呢啲累積下嚟嘅在地資源，如農作知識、客家文化等，透視到嗰個地方可以有點樣嘅未來樣式。

書中提到，有唔少被訪者嘅人生同地方發展，因着1962年超強颱風溫黛襲港、務農搵唔到食而有所變化。從來自然災都係喺香港生活嘅一個重大挑戰，即使今日我哋有城市化發展嘅「保護」下，未至於覺得打風威脅人人性命，但水浸、交通癱瘓、社會日作運作被打亂……呢啲都無形中塑造緊我哋呢個地方嘅生活模式。喺未來只會有更多極端天氣出現，我哋（甚
至香港呢個地方），又會點樣被潛移默化咁改造呢？

書由香港古蹟文化資源中心，喺2025年8月出版。內容同早前中心策劃嘅「古蹟前行 – 大埔山林花川展覽」呼應。

This copy narrates the history of a place through the life experiences and insights of an individual (the interviewee), intertwining them with the broader historical context, demonstrating how closely one’s life development is linked to the development of the place.

Although the book is titled “oral history,” the perspective on “history” is not merely a sense of antiquity, of the “past,” of what has vanished and is nostalgically remembered, but rather an observation of the results arising from changes in times and developments, revealing the processes of transformation. It also examines how the protagonists understand and utilize the accumulated local resources, such as agricultural knowledge and Hakka culture, to gain insights into the potential future of that place.

The book is published by the Hong Kong Resource Centre for Heritage in August 2025.
